Resilient Communities

“Having the opportunity to use my skills to help improve the quality of life for others has been the most rewarding part of volunteering with the Reece Foundation.” Carl Plumber

Community partners

We want our teams and customers to feel cared for, mentally and physically. We demonstrate this through our everyday interactions with one another but extend our reach and impact through our community partnerships.

We asked our teams and customers what causes matter most to them, and where Reece Cares can have the biggest impact. This informed our four focus areas:

Enabling access to clean water and sanitation.

Supporting the mental wellbeing of our teams and customers.

Supporting young people to be their best to create a resilient future workforce.

Enabling our reconciliation vision.

Our Community Partners

We work with tradies to create a better world.

We’re the founding partner and ongoing supporter of the Reece Foundation – an independent charity that connects trade skills with communities in need. We believe all people have the right to clean water and sanitation and share the Foundation’s vision to make it happen.

We connect to improve the mental wellbeing of our industry

The mental wellbeing of our teams and customers is important to us and that’s why we have partnered with Mates in Construction. Our branches are like a community hub for our customers, we get to know them well, and we want to support them. Our partnership with MATES will empower teams and customers across our branch network, in both Australia and New Zealand, to check in on each other and connect them to mental health support.

We help young people reach their potential

REACH connects with young people to inspire them to believe in themselves and get the most out of life. We’re proud to be supporting their Diverge program, targeted at year 9 & 10 students to deliver workshops that help young people plan for life after school. We also partner with REACH to support our school-based apprentices (AsbA) and graduate programs

We create career pathways.

Part of our Reconciliation commitment is to increase the involvement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples in the success and growth of the industry and our business. We are continuing our work with the Clontarf Foundation to support 50 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to attend Clontarf Academies and create employment pathways to grow their career at Reece.

Reconciliation

We believe we have a meaningful role to play in creating a more equitable Australia. This belief has inspired our journey towards reconciliation and driven the development of our Reconciliation Action Plans.

We are committed to working with First Nations peoples - listening, learning, and gaining a greater understanding of the role Reece can play in moving toward a more equitable Australia.

Our business is founded on relationships. We are embedded in the communities where we operate, and we have long-standing relationships with our customers, suppliers, and within the broader construction industry. It's through these relationships and partnerships that we believe we can have the most impact, leveraging our sphere of influence to promote reconciliation through our ways of working to influence change.

Our first RAP laid the foundations for us to grow our understanding of where we can make a difference, and we know we have more work to do. Our second Innovate RAP reflects the deep respect we have for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and focuses on meaningful action through cultural learning and creating employment pathways, and future leaders, at Reece.

Disaster relief

From a pandemic, to floods, to fires, our customers and teams across Australia, New Zealand and the US have been impacted by disaster over the years.

We care about the communities we operate in and support our people and customers with product to restore access to clean water and sanitation.

Our network and customer relationships are at the heart of our disaster relief approach. We empower our branches to work with customers to identify where the need is greatest, and then, working in partnership with communities, we leverage our network to deliver products where they can make a difference.

Conversations to create change
To truly make a difference and improve the mental health of the trade, we must all work together to normalise mental health conversations across the industry. In New Zealand, Reece is working towards all of our branches achieving MATES accreditation so we are better equipped to connect customers to the resources available to them if they need support with their mental health.
