Resilient Communities
Growing goodness at Dingley
Three men looking at a plan

FareShare’s new urban farm in Dingley is a shining example of what can be achieved when the trade comes together to support community.  Food insecurity is a real issue facing many Australians with one in seven living in poverty*. The role FareShare play in providing nutritious meals for everyday Australians doing it tough has never been more important.

The Dingley urban farm project kicked off over 18 months ago with KS Environmental generously donating the use of their land to enable FareShare to grow fresh vegetables for their kitchen in Abbotsford.  FareShare produces and distributes 1.3 million meals each year from its Melbourne kitchen.

Water, irrigation and drainage are the lifeblood of any farm. Thanks to the incredible efforts of Reece customers Aqua Pro Irrigation and East Plumbing Co who volunteered their time and expertise, along with design expertise from the Reece Irrigation Studio, the urban farm is now equipped to grow up to 150,000 kgs of fresh vegetables in its first year and increasing to 300,000kgs over the next five years.

A big thank you to everyone who got involved in this project to make it happen, KS Environmental, Heidelberg Materials, Brown Brothers, Bushman, Alex Fraser, ABC Sheds, Titan Trading, DAEMCO, Pipe Makers, Vinidex, MXD Electrical, Kelm Hire, BD concreters, Trevor Brimble Landscapes, C&N Concrete, Formstone Concrete, Ambi Homes & Tayfra Concrete and Petta Concrete Pumping.
