At the beginning of this year, nine Reece Foundation volunteers embarked on a project to construct 16 washroom toilets in two remote villages near Siem Reap, Cambodia.
Collaborating closely with local partners and working on every stage of the construction process—from hand-digging pits and foundations, to building frames and laying bricks – it was a huge physical and emotional journey for the volunteers.

Volunteer Eilish Grundon reflected, “Cambodia was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. Looking back ten years ago, as a young female plumber from regional Queensland, I never imaged these opportunities existed.
It challenged me in ways I never thought possible and helped me grow both personally and professionally. The work of the Reece Foundation is truly life-changing, making a lasting impact on communities around the world.”
After two weeks of intense hands-on work, the final day was a heartwarming celebration with the entire community coming together to celebrate and thank the efforts of the Reece Foundation volunteers.
The immediate impact has been significant; families now have access to safe and private facilities for bathing and toileting at home, rather than in the open. This project was made possible through the Reece Foundation's partnerships with Rotary Australia, Cambodia Clean Water & Toilet Project (CCWTP), and Build Your Future Today (BFT).
