Following just four weeks of fundraising by our people, their family and friends, and our customers the Reece Group has contributed more than $190K to the Salvation Army’s Bushfire Emergency Relief Fund.

“The donation is part of our bushfire relief commitment and, reflects the strong connection our people have to the communities we operate in, and the passion we have for helping where we can.

“At the start of the year we made a commitment to be here to support bushfire relief, recovery and the rebuild for as long as it takes.

“We’ve been overwhelmed by the support of our people and customers, not just by their cash donations, which Reece has matched dollar for dollar, but also chipping in to bring this commitment to life in their own way.” Said Lizzy Geremia, Chief Communications Officer at Reece Group.

“We’ve seen this through our people volunteering to fight fires, using our network to get water and food into affected areas, donating fittings to wildlife organisations to build water feeders and working with our suppliers to get products into local areas to help communities get back on their feet.”

Reece’s bushfire relief commitment is built around supporting its people, customers and the community and includes: offering unlimited paid leave to our employees volunteering as fire fighters and reservists, making free counselling available to our customers through our employee assistance program and dedicating The Reece Grant to bushfire rebuild projects for the next six months, kick-started with an additional $150K donation by Reece.

The latest donation is part of the business’ workplace giving program, Reece Gives, and all donations have been matched by Reece.

“The Salvation Army is indebted to Reece and their customers for being so generous to the communities affected by the Bushfires of recent months”, said Major Bruce Harmer, Public Relations Secretary for Victoria.

“The $190k donated to The Salvation Army’s Bushfire Emergency Relief Fund and the donated goods in-kind will make a huge and lasting difference to those displaced and negatively affected by the fires”, he said.

The Salvation Army Emergency Services teams and volunteers have supported more than 165 evacuation centres and 250,000 meals to evacuees and emergency services. Beyond this, donations will allow the Salvation Army to make the sustained effort required through the recovery and rebuild.
